A Plea for Prayer
I’ve just returned to Hong Kong from Qinghai province and I am very distressed after meeting with the families of two girls that I wrote to you about last year. The girls are Ruo Ruo and Jun Jun, both of whom were doing well but they now face serious medical issues and need your prayers. In Jun Jun’s case it may be life threatening.
More than that, their families are distraught. Ruo Ruo’s loving foster mother and Jun Jun ’s devoted mother had previously been so thrilled at their progress and as a mother myself, my heart really went out to them.
Jun Jun, who has cerebral palsy, is now having seizures incessantly and has lost all her appetite. She is on maximum medication and therapists can’t work on her because she screams in pain when her limbs are moved. Her mother is distraught at the thought of losing the only person she loves and then being alone in the world. Her service to her child has been truly Christlike. I promised to get a second opinion on what can be done for her. She will be seeing a Swiss doctor in Xining this week.
Ruo Ruo, whose foster family adores her, had a life-threatening condition which left her without bowel and bladder control. She’s now 10 years old and loves school, but her studies have dropped off because her Pampers can’t contain the stools and she gets very embarrassed. However, there’s hope that surgery can fix this problem.
I am pleading with you to please pray for these two girls and their families.
I returned to Hong Kong quite exhausted emotionally, but at the same time excited by some of the other things that happened, which I will tell you about next week. Meanwhile, please, please pray for these girls as well as their distressed families.
Thank you and God bless you for your support,
Siew Mei
