Reactions of Children and Staff of Huangnan Children's Home to the News that Dou Ge's Brain Tumor Had Been Successfully Removed:

From Duojiejia, a government employed administrative staff:

When I heard this news, I was so happy and excited. I don't know how to express my feeling at this moment. I am so grateful to the kind people who help Douge. I am grateful to donors who care about children welfare. With your help, our Douge can regain her life. Thank you!

Also from Duojiejia, re Wu Yufang (another government employee who cares for the children):

When I told this news to Xiao Wu, she was so excited. She cried out. She was thrilled! She said "When it was confirmed that there was a tumor in Dou Ge's head, we were in despair. Did it mean she was hopeless? Would she leave us at her young age? However, with the help of Christian Action (CA), our Dou Ge has a brand new life. Don't worry about home Dou Ge, and don't worry about your sister while you are in Hong Kong. We will take great care of her. We are looking forward to your return. I thank all donors and everyone who cares about the children's welfare.”

From our staff, Xiu Jun at the Home regarding the reaction of Christian Action's staff there:

When Dou Ge's diagnosis was confirmed, we were not optimistic. We were in despair. Then we got help from Christian Action's head office that Dou Ge could be sent to Hong Kong to have surgery. But, according to the doctor's opinion in Xining Hospital, the risk of that kind of surgery is very high. We were so worried about her. From the moment of entering the surgery room, our staff prayed together for her. All of us prayed that she could recover and everything would go well.

When we received the news in that afternoon, all of us were so delighted and happy. When we were reading the email from Hong Kong, we got a great consolation. We could release our worries. The surgery was perfectly successful! We will see her again! We wish that Douge can come back earlier. We are so thankful to our interpreter Caidan and CA staff for taking care of Douge.

We thank again to CA for its support to our children in Huangnan Children's Home. We will work harder for our children and wish them grow up happily and healthily.

Thanks for those who support and care about Huangnan Children's Home. Because of you, our Douge can get a new life. Best wishes to you all.

From our staff, Xiu Jun at the Home: Zhuoga (sister)

"When the surgery was finished, I immediately told Dou Ge's younger sister, Zhuoga. She cried when she heard the news. Although Dou Ge had only been away a short time, she said ʻ I miss Douge so much, I am so happy and I wish I can see my sister soon.'"

Jiu Xie (Best Friend)

"Before Dou Ge's departure, the staff said I should spend more time with her and talk to her more. They told me about her illness and the surgery and I was in shock. Although I didn't know what a tumor is, I knew it is serious. Now, I am so happy for the successful surgery. I hope I can see Dou Ge soon. We can go to school and play together when she comes back."
